    Niobium powder, melting point 2468℃, boiling point 4742℃, density 8.57g/cm3. Niobium is stable in the air at room temperature, and is not completely oxidized when it is red hot in oxygen, and directly combines with sulfur, nitrogen and carbon at high temperatures, and can form alloys with titanium, zirconium, hafnium and tungsten. It does not interact with inorganic acids or bases and is insoluble in aqua regia.

    Applications

    1. Niobium powder is generally obtained by reduction method, atomization method and powder metallurgy method, and its appearance is dark gray, which is used for processing raw materials and producing welding rods.

    2. Niobium-zirconium alloy mainly exists in a solid solution state, when trace amounts and carbon or add trace amounts of carbon, there are a small amount of carbide and oxide dispersion precipitation, so niobium-zirconium alloy has high strength and good plastic processing properties, oxygen resistance and alkali metal corrosion resistance.

    3. Superconducting applications, there are many elements with superconducting properties, niobium is one of the high critical temperature. Alloys made of niobium, with critical temperatures as high as 18.5 to 21 degrees absolute temperature, are currently important superconducting materials.

    4. Medical applications, also occupies an important position in surgical treatment, it can not only be used to manufacture medical devices, but also is a good "biological adaptive material".

The strengthening effect of steel is mainly fine crystal strengthening and dispersion strengthening, which can generate stable carbides and carbon nitrides with carbon and nitrogen in steel, and can also disperse carbides and form steel with fine crystallization. By inducing precipitation and controlling the cooling rate, the precipitates can be dispersed and the toughness level of the steel can be adjusted in a wide range. Therefore, niobium can not only improve the strength of steel, but also improve the toughness of steel, high temperature oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance! Reduce the brittle transition temperature of steel and obtain good weldability and formability.
