Cuprous oxide is an oxide of copper, bright red powder solid, almost insoluble in water, disproportionated into bivalent copper and copper elemental in acidic solution, and gradually oxidized into black copper oxide in wet air.

Applications
Cuprous oxide is a widely used chemical raw material, which can be used as colorant for various articles.
Cuprous oxide is a typical P-type semiconductor with a narrow band gap, which can photocatalyze the degradation of organic matter under visible light. It is a promising photocatalyst and has the potential to become a solar energy conversion material.
Cuprous oxide can decompose water into H2 and O2;
Nano-micron cuprous oxide can also be used as photothermal catalyst, flame retardant and other materials.
Storage Conditions
Nano Cu2O should be sealed in vacuum and stored in cool and dry room and it should not be exposure to air. In addition, the product should be avoided under stress.
Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) is very unstable, during application or exposure to air, very small percentage of the material might be oxidized to Copper Oxide (CuO), or restore to Copper (Cu) – we use high purity metal copper for making Cu2O nanopowder。
Therefore, containing little impurity phase (CuO or Cu) is quite normal and very difficult to remove it. However it generally does not affect any performance.
