εTantalum nitride is black hexagonal crystal. Relative density 13.4; Melting point 3090℃; Microhardness 1100kg/m2; Thermal conductivity 9.54W/(m·K), resistivity 128μΩ·cm. Tantalum nitride is yellow-green crystal, belonging to sodium chloride type crystal, with a relative density of 15.6. Lattice constant a=0.4336nm, c=0.4150nm, melting point 2950℃, microhardness 3200kg/mm2, transformation point temperature 17.8K. Insoluble in water, acid, slightly soluble in aqua regia, soluble in potassium hydroxide and decompose to release ammonia. Heating to 2000 ° C releases nitrogen.
Applications
Tantalum nitride resistors, which are used to make precise sheet resistors, are resistant to water vapor.
Pure tantalum pentachloride can be prepared as a super hard material additive;
Used for spraying to increase electrical stability of transformers, integrated lines and diodes.
