    Features

    Zirconium hydride is metallic in appearance and black in powder. Molecular weight 93.24. The relative density is 5.74. Heat of formation is 124kJ/mol. Electrical conductivity lies between metal and semiconductor. When the pressure drops to 1.33×10-3Pa. At 400℃ hydrogen gas is emitted and the Chemicalbook becomes a metal. No hygroscopicity. Stable in air. It does not react to water and weak acid under normal circumstances, and is easily soluble in 1% to 5% hydrofluoric acid. Reacts violently with oxidants and strong acids. When lit, it burns smoothly. Heating to 500 ~ 700℃ almost completely decomposed.

    Applications

    Zirconium hydride is a strong reducing agent. Used as an additive. Deoxidizer and desulfurizer for the preparation of ferroalloy. Mixed with calcium carbide and nitride, it can be used as a metal coating. Because it can infiltrate ceramics, Chemicalbook is used as a metal-ceramic adhesive for vacuum tubes and ceramic devices.

    It is used as a neutron moderator and other materials for atomic power stations, getter for vacuum tubes, trap fire, flux, etc.
